Types of transport vehicles
Mar 16, 2025| The types of transport vehicles can be divided according to different classification standards, mainly including gross mass, structure, type of transported goods, vehicle power and vehicle type.
Classification by gross mass
Heavy trucks: gross mass exceeds 12 tons, vehicle length reaches or exceeds 6 meters, used to carry heavy goods.
Medium trucks: gross mass is between 4.5 tons and 12 tons, vehicle length does not exceed 6 meters, often used for daily cargo transportation.
Light trucks: gross mass does not exceed 4.5 tons, vehicle length is less than 6 meters, suitable for transporting light goods.
Mini trucks: gross mass is less than 1.8 tons, vehicle length does not exceed 3.5 meters, often used for urban distribution and small cargo transportation.
Classification by structure
Barrel trucks: the vehicle box is designed to be closed, with only openable barrels on the front and rear sides, suitable for transporting goods that require higher safety.
Van trucks: barrels are set on all sides to form a closed cargo space, suitable for goods that require high security.
Barrel-type truck: The vehicle box is designed to be open, with high barrels on both sides, suitable for goods that need ventilation or a certain degree of shelter.
Flatbed truck: Mainly used for loading and unloading large and heavy goods, with the characteristics of large loading capacity, safety, simplicity and durability.
Tank truck: With a closed tank design, it is suitable for goods that require high sealing and protection, such as liquid chemicals or food.
Container transporter: Used to carry removable containers to facilitate the transfer of goods between warehouses.
Classification by type of transported goods
General cargo transport: Transport general goods.
Large object transport: Transport extra-long, extra-wide, extra-high goods.
Dangerous goods transport: Transport flammable, explosive, toxic and other dangerous goods.
Special cargo transport: Including refrigerated preservation transport, tank container transport, vehicle transport, etc.
